Undivided Media & Attention

TV Advertising Tip 3: No one likes a tease

Hello, Jonathan Rolley here, from APAC's leading performance advertising agency, Direct Response Media. Tip three on creating better TV ads is all about how no one likes a tease.

This means that when creating TV ads, some advertisers try to think of ways to do something quirky or really clever as they think that it will capture the viewer's attention. However, this usually has a detrimental impact in terms of a response rate and how many people actually take action because viewers are sitting in front of their screens feeling a little confused as they try to put all of the pieces together and work out what the TV ads were actually advertising! No one wants a puzzle when they're watching DRTV or TV ads. Get to the point straight from the outset. Work out the consumer problem that you're there to solve and articulate that clearly. Don't tease, don't go the long route - you don't have time. TV ads are expensive and as soon as you do try to be clever your response rate usually drops, so the essence of this is no one likes a tease.

Thank you again for tuning in and all the best.
